Welcome to my Smiles of 2018 blog!
How flippin’ good was 2018?!! I LOVED IT!!!!
I photographed 48 weddings as well as a bunch of engagement shoots. My couples brought me all over Scotland and the Isles including 2 trips to the Isle of Arran and going as far north as Lossiemouth (which is absolutely stunning by the way). I took over 160,000 images, drove thousands of miles and drank a hell of a lot of coffee. There were church weddings, barn weddings, hotel weddings and even elopements in the forest and every one was a total hoot!
People are well aware that I count myself very lucky to make a living from spending time with the most amazing couples and their closest friends and family. Often joining in, chatting to guests whilst documenting special moments and giving couples a lasting memory of one of the most amazing days of their lives. It is the best job in the world and with a full diary in 2019, I am excited to see what it brings. I want to thank every single couple who has trusted me to document their wedding days and for being the nicest people who have treated me like part of their family. I am very lucky to have met you and played a role in your wedding.
I also want to thank my trusty 2nd shooters who have helped me throughout the year. John Clark Photography, David Ruff Photography, Fotomaki Photography and Martin Venherm Photography.
This blog isn’t really a best of as such. I didn’t agonize over the images and pick out only the best. If anything, I love pictures more when they are not perfect. This is a celebration of lots of happy moments from every weddings I photographed this year. It’s a celebration of all of my couples, their friends and families. Some of my “favourite” images are not in here but I love these images and can’t help but smile when I look through it.
If anyone follows me on Instagram (@rossalexanderphoto by the way - go follow, thanks) you will have seen that I picked out a lot of images and felt the best way to show them all was to put them in a slideshow. I didn’t want the slide show to be 10 minutes long so there’s 525 images squeezed into a 3 minute 55 second song haha. It’s fast paced but stick through it cos you’ll have a smile on your face!
If you like a slower pace, I’ve also picked out 100 images that I’ve posted below. If the slideshow isn’t for you, then take your time and scroll through the pics below.
The start of 2019 has brought my wife and I a beautiful baby girl. Her name is Imogen and she is amazing. 2019 is off to a flyer already! We’re absolutely in love with her.
If that doesn’t make you smile then hopefully the wedding pictures will :)
Enjoy,
Ross x
