Frequently Asked Questions
Your wedding is a life event that will stay with you forever. It’s the most special day and as cliche as it sounds, planning really is a rollercoaster of emotions.
As someone lucky to be part of so many life-changing events, my goal is to be more than your photographer. My aim is to be an asset to my couples, someone who can be trusted to, not only capture beautiful memories, but who can offer friendly advice and tips to help you make the best decisions for your memorable day.
What are the deliverables?
You receive as many images as I feel make the cut (usually between 700-900) edited in my own editing style, in high resolution with no watermark. You can view and download these pictures easily, print them in any way you like, and share them with family and friends. The idea is that at the very least, you have a huge bunch of photos that you can have printed in any way you like and you’re in charge. You can create your own canvas art, framed prints, and albums. Of course, I can help with these if you want me to.
How do your travel expenses work?
I don’t charge any travel for weddings in mainland Scotland. If your wedding is over 2.5 hours drive from my location (ML3) I charge a standard fee of £350 for 2 nights accommodation. Destination weddings are priced individually.
Do You need a list of pictures to take?
Nope! We meet up about 6-8 weeks before your wedding where we discuss the day. Before this meeting, I will email you a questionnaire where I ask for a small list of family setups. I will offer recommendations about what people tend to do. I recommend keeping the list small and containing it to the VIP’s (parents, grandparents, bridal party etc). I also recommend staying away from huge numbers of people. You’ll thank me for this tip.
How much is the deposit?
A non-refundable deposit of 20% of your package cost is payable to own the date.
How do we book?
After you have seen my pricing and are happy to go ahead and secure the date, I will send you a contract with details for paying the deposit. Simples.
What if we need to reschedule?
If you have paid a deposit to hold a date and then have to move, I am happy to move your deposit over to the new date providing notice is at least 8 months, the new date is within 12 months of the original date and I have the new date available. If I cannot accommodate the new date, the deposit is non-refundable. If you are moving to a date more than 12 months away the cost of your package may increase in line with that year’s pricing.
What is your turnaround time?
You’ll receive around 50 previews within a few days of your wedding and the full gallery will be delivered within 8-10 weeks during the busy season (April - October).
Do you offer albums?
Yes! In this digital age, it's easy to forget about how beautiful pictures look when displayed on fine art paper in a gorgeous leather bound album. You can see my albums here.
How long have you been a photographer?
At the time of writing this, 13 years! (January 2024). I shot my first wedding in 2011, and have since photographed over 400 weddings. I love them!
How many weddings do you do per year?
About 35-40. I’m a dad now and before my responsibilities grew I used to photograph around 50 weddings per year. It was bonkers but I loved it, however, I love my family, and being able to devote quality time to them and still offer my couples my best means I have to reign it in a little.
What happens if you are unable to make our wedding day?
Don’t jinx it! God forbid if something crazy happens and I can’t make it to your wedding, I will find you an amazing replacement. I am very lucky to be part of a talented network of photographers who can jump in and help if required. I haven’t missed a wedding yet though.
Can you help us with our timeline?
Absolutely! More than happy to offer any help or guidance, especially for winter weddings when light is crucial.
Do you only shoot weddings?
Yes. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a huge life event and can’t imagine doing anything else.
