Assynt Highland Wedding Photographer | Luciana & Beetle
Hold on to your butts folks! This is a good’n!
As a wedding photographer, I am so lucky to, not only witness the happiest days of people’s lives, but I get to visit places I would never have the chance to see if it wasn’t for being a wedding photographer. I’ve travelled the length and breadth of Scotland and welcomed inside some of the countries most beautiful private estates. I feel so grateful and I’m gutted that I’ve missed out on a lot of travelling in 2020 so looking back at this gorgeous private estate wedding in the highlands is getting me through nicely.
I introduce to you, Beetle and Luce. It’s genuinely hard to find the words to describe them but if I was to try, I’d say they are 2 of the kindest, sweetest, most easy going and generally lovely natured people and it was such a pleasure to spend the day with them on their wedding day.
For their wedding, I drove over 500 miles as they got married on Beetles family estate at Ben More in the gorgeous Sutherland area of the Highlands. I nearly hit 1000 deer and driving in the dark up there is quite an experience.
I started the day off with Luce and her family at Loch Assynt Lodge. The vibe was relaxed and it’s always good to see champagne being popped at 10 am. I then took a jaunt 20 minutes down the road to see the fellas all looking dapper in morning suits and sipping on some pints by the water. Again, the vibes were on point.
The ceremony took place at Inchmadamph Old Kirk. It sits proudly on the water overlooking Loch Assynt. It’s small and cosy and certainly doesn’t fit about 190 people in it. You’ll see what I mean when you look through the pictures below.
After the ceremony and an epic confetti line, we headed to Beetle’s family estate at Ben More to party the rest of the night away. It was an incredible day and so relaxed. I think the first dance was at 11pm.
I am forever grateful to be chosen to document people’s wedding days. Luce and Beetle, thank you for having me.
Here’s what they had to say:
“Our wedding pictures are the best we have seen and I don't think we are biased. The reason we picked Ross was the vivid colour in his photographs and warmth, especially when we were planning for what was likely to be a day without the sun it what was undoubtedly one of the UK's most Northerly weddings. We had a dreich morning with the weather and the photographs still are light, bright and warm. They are brilliant. The sun then came out later at the reception and the pictures are spectacular. There were detailed shots of tables and details, all of which we think are important to take after all the effort put in. But more importantly, there were great shots of candid guests and family. I have since had friends explaining that they had changed tack to move away from the more subtle colours and muted wedding photographs after seeing ours. So calm and comfortable and the most inconspicuous man of the day! Even when organising the more hectic formal photos, great leadership skills and just very easy and you kept it fun! I thought the amount of time for us was perfect for a little stroll and you definitely listened to us when we said we wanted to get back there or not do X or do Y. Very reassuring for us as you totally listened.”
Enjoy!
